Dr. Karen Reznik Dolins is a highly respected nutritionist with over 20 years experience helping individuals achieve their nutrition and fitness goals.   A wide array of clients from inactive kids and adults to competitive and professional tennis and basketball athletes have sought her expertise to manage weight, improve athletic performance , and  help manage medical conditions including diabetes and heart disease. 

In addition to her practice, Dr. Dolins is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Behavior Studies at Teacher’s College, Columbia University, where she earned her doctoral degree.  She is a frequent lecturer to both professional and lay audiences and is a prolific author and expert reviewer in the areas of sports nutrition, weight management, nutritional needs of women, and the nutritional needs of teens.  Dr. Dolins was the nutrition consultant to the New York Knicks for over 10 years and has led workshops for the WNBA, Cirque du Soleil, Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon, local area schools, and other organizations. 

Dr. Dolins is a member of Sports and Cardiovascular Nutritionists (SCAN) and recipient of their 2005 Achievement Award.  Other professional memberships include the American Dietetic Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and the New York State Dietetic Association.  She is one of only 194 nationwide to hold the esteemed title of Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).  Dr. Dolins is a Registered Dietitian and is a Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in the State of
New York.

One course in nutrition does not create an expert.

UNDERSTANDING NUTRITION CREDENTIALS

BA or BS in Nutrition
has successfully completed undergraduate coursework focused on nutrition

Registered Dietitian (RD)
a credential of the American Dietetic Association
Has successfully completed an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in nutrition
as well as a 10 month internship and passed a national qualifying exam

PhD or EdD in Nutrition 
Has successfully completed coursework and research in the field culminating in a doctoral degree. 
May or may not also hold the credential of RD.

Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
An RD with at least 1500 hours experience specializing in sports nutrition and has passed a
national exam covering nutrition, exercise physiology, and the application of nutrition to sport.
